The plot leaves large gaps causing the audience to become confused, whereas the CGI on De Niro lands often in the uncanny valley. The 1st act is good, but then Al Pacino chews the scenery and the film gets boring and bogged down in a political drama. I'm trying to find something good about this movie but can't. The CGI makes the actors look fake. This is the film that the characters from The Producers would've made if instead of Springtime for Hitler they decided. He does an impersonation of himself as a young man but he is moving like old man. Actually, what we’re about to attempt is more like climbing down from a national monument in the manner of North by Northwest. With Scorsese bringing back so many of his previous collaborators for The Irishman (De Niro, Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel, various Vinyl and Boardwalk Empire faces), it almost feels like the gang’s all here, anyway, except for DiCaprio.
